1. What is an Anti-Harassment Protection Order?

This order is designed to protect you from what the law calls “unlawful harassment.” In simple terms, that means someone has seriously bothered, threatened, or alarmed you without a valid reason. You can file for an Anti-harassment Protection Order for yourself, your child, a vulnerable adult, or any adult you’re responsible for.

2. Why Your Response is Important

Getting served with a protection order can be stressful, but you’re not alone. If you respond the right way and on time, you help the judge see your side and protect your rights. While it is not required to send your response to the Petitioner before the hearing, it may be a good idea. If the other party does not get it ahead of time, the judge might delay the hearing to give them time to read it, which means more waiting for you. It is also essential that your response must be filed and served properly, a certain number of court days before your hearing.

3. You Don’t Have to Handle This Alone

We specialize in helping people in King County who need to prepare and file their Response to an Anti-Harassment Protection Order. Our goal is to take the stress and confusion off your shoulders so you can focus on what matters.

We Provide:

  • Quick, professional service of process upon the Petitioner
  • Court-compliant proof of service
  • Filing of the Proof of Service in King County District Court

4.  Who Can Serve Your Documents

First things first: You can’t serve your own court documents.  Someone else has to do it for you. The person serving your papers needs to:

  • Be 18 years old or older
  • Be not involved in your case
  • Have knowledge of process serving rules for the specific court
  • Be willing to fill out and sign a Proof of Service form

Here are your main options:

• WA Pro Se (that’s us!) – We’re a quick and reliable process-serving company in the Greater Seattle area, and we handle documents for all King County District Court locations.

• A friend or another adult you trust – As long as they’re comfortable serving the documents correctly and filling out the form afterward.

• Local Police Department – They can serve some types of documents but only during business hours. It can take longer, if the documents get served at all after exhausting daytime attempts, so it’s not always ideal if you’re short on time.

5.  Court Division and Address for Filing in King County.

King County District Court has different locations, so make sure you file your response paperwork at the same division where your original petition was filed.
